Theatro Municipal de São Paulo
Construído em 1903 e inaugurado em 1911, com a ópera Hamlet, de Ambrósio Thomas, o Theatro Municipal mantém o estilo renascentista barroco, inspirado na Ópera de Paris, mesmo depois de várias reformas. O projeto foi realizado pelo escritório de Francisco Ramos de Azevedo, com a colaboração dos arquitetos italianos Cláudio e Domiziano Rossi.
Passaram pelo seu palco nomes como Enrico Caruso, Maria Callas, Titta Ruffo, Tito Schipa, Bidu Sayão, Maria Olenewa, Vaslav Nijinski, Arturo Toscanini, Guiomar Novaes, Isadora Ducan e Margot Fonteyn, assim como os principais balés e orquestras mundiais. O Municipal ainda foi o principal palco da Semana de Arte Moderna de 1922.
A casa teatral destaca-se pela sua majestosa construção interna e externa. Anexo encontra-se o Museu do Theatro, inaugurado em 1983. O público pode conferir, além das exposições, o Setor de Documentação e Consulta, que guarda programas de espetáculos, fotos, gravações, documentos e hemeroteca. Há também um Serviço Educativo, que promove visitas guiadas ao museu e ao teatro e o programa Desenho no Theatro.

Passed by this stage names like Enrico Caruso, Maria Callas, Titta Ruffo, Tito Schipa, Bidu Sayao, Maria Olenewa, Vaslav Nijinsky, Arturo Toscanini, Guiomar Novaes, Isadora Duncan and Margot Fonteyn as well as the major ballets and world orchestras. The Theater was the main stage of the Modern Art Week in 1922.
The theater house stands out for its majestic interior and exterior construction. Attached is the Theatre Museum, which opened in 1983. The public can check, in addition to exhibitions, the Sector Documentation and Consultation, guarding shows programs, photos, recordings, documents and newspaper library. There is also an educational service that promotes guided tours of the museum and the theater and design program at the Theatro.
