Geocache Description:

A small camoed pot: BYOP.

A group of cachers were at a murder mystery geocaching event at a pub in Alloa when one of the group ended up murdered. A witness, Johnny Muggleton, the manager of the pub explains he saw five people at a geocaching event at the pub. He says he saw four of them leave the pub in a hurry leaving behind another cacher who had been shot dead. The following items were left behind at the crime scene.
Analysis of the bullet found at the scene resulted in the marks being categorised as follows.
Please note that all the events described in this series are fiction and any parallels with real people are entirely coincidental. There will however be a real event at the actual pub in Alloa to coincide with the launch of the series. Hopefully no one will really get murdered at it. Click here to go to the event page.

Here's some hints and tips about how to progress through the puzzle series which work together to form a narrative.

1) You need to look for clues in the pictures provided. These are usually but not always, 6 digit numbers on objects. These numbers will help you progress through the narrative.

2) The codes show you have found an object. To use an object you need enter the code into the relevant geochecker. There are dozens of geocheckers relating to different parts of the storyline. You need to work out the relevant place to use each object.

3) When you get a message saying that the coordinates you have entered into a geochecker are correct that enables you to progress through the narrative as you will get additional pictures of objects and unlock hidden locations.

4) The "correct" coordinates do not tell you where any of the caches actually are. You will receive messages in the geocheckers telling you where particular caches are actually located.

5) Some geocheckers have multiple correct answers and some cache pages have multiple geocheckers. This is one of the reasons why the "correct codes" are not the actual codes. It might sound like an unnecessary overcomplication but it this avoids any ambiguity in the location of the actual caches because several checkers have multiple "correct" answers as this allows you to use multiple objects in the same location.

6) Sometimes you discover multiple objects when entering the "correct" code to a geochecker. I'm not aware of a geochecker that allows you to provide multiple images so you will occasionally have to cut and paste the image locations into a browser to discover the additional objects

7) There are two different geocheckers used in the series. The geocheck.org checker requires the codes to be entered as coordinates. The 6 digit numbers usually are the minutes and the rest of coordinates needed are provided on the cache page. Where you see a Certitude geochecker the correct answer is not a coordinate. This geochecker allows any format of correct answer so some are numbers, some words and some a combination

8) One of the puzzles is not part of the narrative but a red herring. It is in fact a stand alone puzzle. You might spot something slightly different about it.

9) I'm very happy to help anyone who gets stuck. The easiest way to get help is via this Facebook group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/362744837458592/ which I set up for Dark caching but can be used to get help with any of my puzzles
