Geocache Description:

You can paddle here, or maybe even swim/wade (not recommended in that water/mud/who knows what else!)... but you will have to climb - not too high or difficult (well, not for me anyway), but as with any tree climb - please be careful - don't stand on any dead limbs, and you might want to do this with someone, or take a kid to do the climbing (but you might not want to watch if it is YOUR kid :)

After spending a year or 2 (of very sporadic effort :) trying to hide a cache up a tree on an island in this pond near my home (during which I moved house ... still not far from this pond :), I then worked out that the only place I could hide anything on any island here is one small corner, that has NO trees! But... before I got around to that, someone else hid one on the shore... too close to that island!

My dog and I paddled to an island on a bigger lake and explored that area a while back, and I noted that it may be fun to hide a cache up a tree on that island. But something else was too close (so I found that, and removed mine). :)

The other day I looked on the map and noticed a couple of caches near this pond had been archived... leaving me room to (hopefully) hide a cache on each of two islands :)

so - I hid the original cache on the original island I had tried to hide it on, and I hid this one up a tree on this island - lol

Not too difficult a climb I hope - I did it at my age - but I am one of those weird people who still climbs trees even though I am a grandmother ... as with any tree cache, I do suggest a slow and careful climb, planning your attack to avoid damaging the tree ...

This container is a fairly large "small" (but not quite big enough to call "medium") so there is room for a few swaps/etc.

This pond is actually called the West Belconnen Settlement Pond ... not a very exciting name for what is actually quite a nice pond ... in an area that I have seen change from a pond hiding in the middle of some paddocks, where people used to dump cars and stuff, to a nicely landscaped new suburb with picnic tables and BBQs and bike paths around one side of the lake (there are tracks around the whole way, for walking, or riding a mountain bike :) There is a lot of bird life here - including ducks, swans and even Pelicans.

Oh - and it is another one of my weird experiments with crochet/etc camo ... this one also using something which most people would consider rubbish, but I saw a potential use so I kept it - I found it beside a river while looking for a (missing at the time) Tankengine cache (which I have since been back and found).
