O esforço dispendido na construção dos socalcos em xisto está bem presente e demonstra a necessidade de sobrevivência das populações locais, procurando adaptar as condições agrestes existentes às suas necessidades, concedendo à paisagem uma visão humanizada, o que a torna mais atractiva. Já perto da aldeia da Benfeita, encontramos estes socalcos, onde os habitantes procedem ao cultivo de alguns produtos agricolas.
