Das kleine Dorf Nordsteimke liegt südlich vom wolfsburger Stadtzentrum. Eine kleine Sehenswürdigkeit ist das hier aufgestellte Großsteingrab. The town of Nordsteimke is located south of the center of Wolfsburg. A remarkable landmark is the here arranged megalithic tomb.
Von Nordsteimke aus kann man auf Wander- und Radwegen durch die "Nordsteimker Schweiz" und das benachbarte Hasselbachtal, ohne Nutzung öffentlicher Straßen, zu fuss oder mit dem Fahrrad, leicht das Zentrum Wolfsburgs erreichen. Dieses schöne Großsteingrab wurde 1968 beim Pflügen eines Ackers auf dem Kalkberg, am Südrand von Nordsteimke, entdeckt. Es ist der Rest einer Bestattungsanlage, die sich lt. Infotafel auf die Jungsteinzeit, Ende des 4. Jahrtausend vor Christus, zurückdatieren läßt. An der Stelle des damaligen Fundortes befindet sich heute ein Wohngebiet. Using a network of walking trails and cycle tracks across "Nordsteimker Schweiz" and the nearby Hasselbachtal you have easily access to the center of Wolfsburg, getting around roads or crowded streets. This pretty megalithic tomb was discovered in 1968 by a farmer, ploughing his fields atop the "Kalkberg" (Kalk = limescale) at the southern border of Nordsteimke. The stones of this tomb are the remains of a cemetery, which is - according to the information panel - dated back to late Neolithic, end of 4th millennium B. C. The original place of discovery now is a residential area.
