"Haagan kummikaupunkina on vuodesta 1939 lähtien ollut Strömstad Ruotsin länsirannikolla. Se avusti Haagaa ja haagalaisia viime sotien aikana mm. lähettämällä lasten vaatteita, jalkineita ja ruokatarvikkeita. Strömstadista lähetettyjä, sodan aikana himottuja kahvipaketteja käytettiin voittoina arpajaisissa. Arpajaisten tuotoilla hankittiin lääkkeitä ja muita tarvikkeita vähävaraisille haagalaisperheille. Strömstadin puisto nimettiin vuonna 1952 ja siitä kertova muistolaatta paljastettiin lokakuussa 1964 kummikaupungin edustajien läsnäollessa 1990-luvulla puistoon istutettiin kaksi tammea kiitoksena kaupunginosayhdistys Pro Haagan pitkäaikaisen puheenjohtajan Matti Hakkaraisen ja sihteerin Anja von Schantzin työlle."

Strömstad located in the westcoast of Sweden has been Haaga's sister city since 1939. During the wars, the city assisted Haaga and its inhabitants by sending children's clothing, shoes and food supplies. The coffee packages sent from Strömstad were wanted and they were used as lottery prizes. The profit from the lotteries were used to acquire medicine and other supplies for the families in Haaga. Strömstad's park was named in 1952 and in October 1964, with representatives from the sister city present, a tile for its honour was revealed. In 1990's two oaks were planted in the park as a thank you to the long-term president Matti Hakkarainen and secretary Anja von Schantz of the association Pro Haaga.
