DE: Schloss Hallwyl entstand im 11. Jahrhundert und ist eines der bedeutendsten Wasserschlösser der Schweiz. Es liegt am nördlichen Ende des Hallwilersees, auf zwei Inseln, im Aabach bei Seengen. Auf einem Rundgang durch die Schlossräume erkunden die Besucher mittelalterliche und neuzeitliche Lebenswelten in elf Themen.
Das Wasserschloss war der Sitz der Familie von Hallwyl. Das aargauische Kleinadelsgeschlecht hat sich in seiner über achthundertjährigen Geschichte vielfältig hervorgetan: auf den eidgenössischen Schlachtfeldern, an den europäischen Höfen, in der Wissenschaft, in der Politik, im Handel und in der Finanzwelt.
Über den Audioführer erzählen ausgewählte Familienmitglieder ihre Lebensgeschichte gleich selber. Zu Wort kommen aber auch die einfachen Leute, die Bauern und Untertanen der Herrschaft Hallwyl. Für Kinder gibt es eine spezielle Audiotour.
An ausgewählten Tagen bieten auch öffentliche Führungen, Veranstaltungen und Naturexkursionen den Besucher ein vielseitiges Programm an. Eine besondere Veranstaltung ist die Oper Schloss Hallwyl. Diese findet alle drei Jahre, unter freiem Sternenhimmel und vor der märchenhaften Schlosskulisse statt.
Der Schlosshof lädt die Besucher zum Entspannen und Verweilen ein. Im Bistro bietet ein breites Angebot Snacks und Getränke an.

EN: Hallwyl Castle was built in the 11th century and is one of the foremost water castles in Switzerland located at the northern end of Lake Hallwil on two islands in the Aabach creek near Seengen. The water castle was the seat of the von Hallwyl family. In its over eight hundred year history, the lower nobility clan distinguished itself in a variety of ways: on the battlefields of the old Swiss confederacy, at the European courts, in science, politics, business, and in the world of finance. A tour of the castle takes visitors through eleven different exhibits explaining life in the Middle Ages and later times.
Through the audio guide, some family members talk about what their life was like, interspersed with comments from other, simple people, such as the farmers and the subjects of the Hallwyl family. A special audio tour is available for children.
On some selected days an interesting programme, including public tours, events and nature excursions, is available to the visitors. The Hallwyl Castle Opera is a very special event, taking place every three years, under the stars and with the magical castle as a backdrop.
The courtyard is a pleasant place for visitors to sit and relax. A bistro offers a wide selection of snacks and beverages.

Schloss Hallwyl
Das Schloss Hallwyl ist eines der bedeutendsten Wasserschlösser der Schweiz und befindet sich auf zwei Inseln im Aabach, nahe dem nördlichen Ende des Hallwilersees auf dem Gebiet der Gemeinde Seengen. Seit 1925 ist es öffentlich zugänglich und seit 1994 im Besitz des Kantons Aargau und ist Teil des Museums Aargau.

Die Ankerkoordinaten führen dich vor den Eingang des Schlosses. Von hier aus kannst Du Deinen Rundgang starten um die Anlage zu besichtigen (das Innere des Schlosses ist ein Museum welches gebührenpflichtig ist; Du musst für den Cache aber nicht in das Innere des Schlosses). Nebst dem Schloss kann auch eine alte Mühle besichtig werden und der Park wie auch die Nähe zum See laden zum Spazieren und Verweilen ein.

1. Du stehst vor dem Eingang zum Schloss. Oberhalb des Tores siehst Du ein in Sandstein geschnitztes Ornament mit einem Wappen im unteren Teil. Welches Symbol siehst Du auf diesem Wappen? (= ABC)

2. Schau von hier über den Graben an die Mauer. Du siehst zwei Fenster in der Mauer mit je einem Eisengitter.
Schau Dir das grössere Fenster an. In wie viele Vierecke unterteilt das Gitter Deinen Blick in den Innenhof (= DE) ?

3. Wie viele schmale Lampen zählst Du beim bachseitigen Geländer? (= F)
Schau auch an die Wand der Mühle und merke Dir die Zahl welche Du im Fensterrahmen siehst.

4. Schau Dich um und Du wirst ein kleines an Schild an der Wand entdecken.

Hallwyl Castle
Hallwyl Castle is one of the most important moated castles in Switzerland. It is located on two islands in the River Aabach, just north of the northern end of Lake Hallwil in the municipality of Seengen in the canton of Aargau. Since 1925, it has been open to the public, and since 1994 it has been owned by the canton of Aargau and is part of the museum of Aargau.

The anchor coordinates will lead you in front of the entrance of the castle. From here you can start your round tour through the site (the inside of the castle is a museum an is subject to charges but you don't need to go inside of the castle for this cache). Beside the castle you also have the possibility to visit an old mill and the castle park as well as the closeness to the lake invite for a walk and to stay for a while.

1. You are standing in front of the entrance of the castle. Above the gate you can see an ornament carved in Sandstone. The ornament contains a crest in the lower part. What kind of symbol do you see on the crest? (= ABC)

2. From here have a look over the ditch to the wall. You'll see two windows in the wall.
Both with an iron grating. Have a look at the bigger one. Into how many squares does

Have also a look at the wall of the mill and memorize the number you can see in the window frame.
