DE: Die grössten und zahlreichsten Moorlandschaften der Schweiz und eine Tier- und Pflanzenwelt von (inter)nationaler Bedeutung kennzeichnen das Entlebuch – kein Wunder wurde das Gebiet als erstes Biosphärenreservat der Schweiz ausgezeichnet.
Auf 400 Quadratkilometern breitet sich eine mystische Welt aus, die Ruhe, Inspiration und Entspannung verspricht: Unberührte Moorlandschaften, idyllische Alpweiden oder die majestätisch in den Himmel ragende Schrattenfluh sorgen für Erlebnisse der ganz besonderen Art.
Aber nicht nur Ruhe und Entspannung in unberührter Natur bietet das Entlebuch, sondern auch eine Vielzahl von abwechslungsreichen Freizeitaktivitäten: Ob Energie- oder Märchenpfad, Kneippanlage oder Moor-Kinderspielplatz Mooraculum, satellitengesteuertes Wandern oder geführte Exkursionen, die Auswahl ist enorm.
Das alte Handwerk der Köhlerei in Romoos oder der Wallfahrtsort Heiligkreuz sind Beispiele für die kulturellen Höhepunkte eines Besuches.

EN: Hardly any other region in Switzerland possesses as many natural treasures as does Lucerne's "Wild West". Switzerland's most extensive and numerous moorlands are found here as are a flora and fauna of (inter)national importance. It is no wonder that Entlebuch was designated by UNESCO as the first biosphere reserve in Switzerland. Within the worldwide network of biosphere reserves, Entlebuch represents pre-Alpine moorland and karst landscapes.
Over an area of 400 square kilometres a mystical world unfolds with its promise of peace, inspiration and relaxation - unspoilt moorlands, idyllic Alpine pastures and the majestically towering Schrattenfluh make for experiences of a very special kind indeed.
But it is not only peace and relaxation in unspoilt nature that the UNESCO Biosphere Entlebuch offers. It also boasts a wide range of leisure activities. There is an enormous choice including the energy and fairytale trails, Kneipp facilities, mud baths, satellite-guided hiking and field trips. Even from a historical and cultural point of view, the region has much to offer - the ancient craft of charcoal burning in Romoos and the pilgrimage site of Heiligkreuz are just highlights of a visit to the largest book in the world. |

| Rundwanderung Moorpfad Mettilimoos, Finsterwald |
DE: Der knapp 6 km lange Moorpfad führt ins Mettilimoos, östlich von Finsterwald. Man durchwandert Hochmoore, Übergangsmoore und Flachmoore. Früher wurden hier grosse Mengen Torf gestochen. Heute ist es ein wunderschönes Schutzgebiet mit Aussicht ins Entlebuch.
Im Mettilimoos wurden während den beiden Weltkriegen grosse Mengen Torf gestochen, 1918/19 waren es ganze 7000 Tonnen. Die Spuren dieser Tätigkeit sind heute gut sichtbar. Heute wird das Moor zusammen mit den Landwirten geschützt. Am Wegerand stehen zwei Informationstafeln.
Den Schafberg umwandert man auf der Nordseite, um dann auf dem Sattel (1185m) den tollen Aussichtspunkt zu erreichen. Im Abstieg nach Finsterwald erkennt man links die einzige Erdgasgewinnungsanlage der Schweiz (1985–1994 in Betrieb) sowie weitere Torfstiche.

| Round hiking tour Moorpfad Mettilimoos, Finsterwald |
EN:This nearly 6km long moor trail leads to the "Mettilimoos", eastern of Finsterwald. During your hike you will pass highmoor, transition bog and low-level moor. In the old days a huge amount of turf was dismounted at this place but in this day and age this area is a beautiful refuge with a view of the Entlebuch..
During the two World Wars a huge amount of turf was dismounted at Mettilimoos (in 1918/19 the amount was about 7000 tons) and you can see the sign of this activities up to this day. Nowadays the moor has been protected by the government and the farmers. You also can find two information boards along the trail.
To reach the Sattel (1185m) with its great lookout point you have to hike around the Schafberg at its north side. During your descent to Finsterwald you can recognise the only natural gas production complex of Switzerland which was in operation from 1985-1994 as well as some more peat cuts.
