Geocache Description:

The International CITO initiative begins again on April 16th 2016 and there will, as usual, be a Groundspeak souvenir for attending a CITO event.

So forget the upcoming Cyclefest on the island, forget last year's ManxCacheFest, the place for geocachers to be on the Isle of Man this spring is the Recyclefest.

The main event will be a CITO along the Heritage Trail and in Cronk Grianagh Park between 11.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., starting and finishing at the Braddan Commissioners' offices, Close Corran, Union Mills.

The commissioners have very kindly offered to supply the equipment (bags, litter pickers etc.) and use of their premises and facilities.

But we thought it might be interesting to check first what is actually rubbish and what we can recycle. And what happens to the stuff we send for recycling on the Isle of Man? Is it all really recycled? Is it worth the effort?

To find out, we will be visiting Douglas Borough Council's Recycling facility on the Isle of Man Business Park at 10 a.m., prior to the event. There will be a presentation and a tour of the plant. Please note, as these are working premises the tour is not suitable for children under six years of age and all children must be accompanied. It's all very interesting, we visited ourselves last year and were immediately keen to share the experience with the island's geocachers.

As the plant isn't really within walking distance of the CITO in the time available, please contact the COs if you have transport issues and we'll see what we can arrange.

Then at 12.30 p.m., after the event, we will be providing light refreshments at the Braddan Commissioners' offices and a chance to chat to other participants.

Whether you can join us for the whole morning, or just spare a short time for the CITO, you will be very welcome. See you there.

PLEASE SHOW IN YOUR LOG IF YOU ARE COMING ON THE TOUR AND HOW MANY IN YOUR GROUP
