Located in Hanging Rock State Park
The best route to take is from the Dan River Access located at: N 36 25'47.5" W 080 14'55.0". From the Parking lot It is a very easy 1.5 to 2 hour round trip hike. Deer and Turkey are very common here, Walk quietly to see them. There are a total of 4 stream crossings in the first quarter mile. All are very easy and the trail is blazed on both sides of the creek. Please dont wear shorts, you will regret it due to the tight trail on the first half mile. Careful when you enjoy the view from the rock outcropping, it is a long way down. After that it is easy going. A longer trip can be made from the visitor center parking lot via Window falls trail. 7.2 miles round trip if you go all the way to the river. Camping, boating, fishing, swimming and more hiking can be found in the park. Leashed pets are welcome.
