Geocache Description:

A series of 5 caches placed within Hollingbourne Meadows. There is a selection of container sizes and difficulty/terrain ratings (sorry to those who don’t like them – but one may be a magnetic nano!). Numbers 1, 2 and 3 are on flat ground, with number 4 up an incline that can be rather slippery in winter. The bonus cache is just a short distance away. The meadows are very dog and child friendly (please clear up after both of them!) They can be muddy after hard rain, but during fine weather they are normally a delight to walk. The caches are placed with kind permission of the Hollingbourne Meadows Trust. This is a popular hiking and dog-walking area, so please be aware of nosey muggles and doggles. If there is livestock in surrounding fields, please keep dogs under control.

We hope you enjoy a stroll around the meadows. Parking is normally available on the main road (Eyhorne Street) or behind the pub (next to, but not behind the Village Hall). The walk may be started from Public Footpaths in two places (coordinates below)

1. Start by walking up the Public Footpath towards Grove Mill Cottage (at the entrance to the road called Hasteds). At the end carry straight on to the meadows. You don't need to bear right on the footpath. You can then complete the caches in the order 1, 2, 3, 4 and return the same way, or leave the meadows at the pub and walk back down the road to complete the circuit. This would be my preference.

2. Start by walking up the track which starts by the Village Hall, then walk to the left of all the farm buildings at the end of the track and continue onto the meadows. You will then do the caches in the order 4, 1, 2, 3.

These meadows were bought with donations from local residents, organisations and the Hollingbourne Society to prevent the land being sold off in small parcels for housing or other use. The Hollingbourne Meadows Trust manage the land, and have planted many trees (including sponsored commemorative trees), planted hedges and created a flower meadow. They also maintain cut grass paths, promote natural biodiversity and promote nature trails, walkways and footpaths.

Don’t forget there is also a cache from the Village Sign series at the entrance to the village within easy walking distance of the meadows caches (GC5RZXT).

**When I placed these caches in Jan 2016, the ground was MUCH wetter and muddier than normal for these meadows. Appropriate footwear needed! **

In summer it may be a little "nettley" by this cache.

From here, I would suggest that you investigate the bonus cache in this series (GC69F54). You will need to count some trees.
