About Alcester Station
The station at Alcester opened to passengers on 17th September 1866 and was closed just over 96 years later on 1st October 1962.
Opened by the Evesham and Redditch Railway, and joining the Midland Railway, it became part of the London, Midland and Scottish Railway during the Grouping of 1923. The line then passed on to the London Midland Region of British Railways on nationalisation in 1948. It was then closed by the British Transport Commission.
For a while the station was the junction of a Great Western Railway line to Bearley.
Today, the station house is lived in and the goods shed is in light industrial use. The former railway alignment has partly been incorporated into the Heart of England Way. The house itself has been significantly extended but the platforms still remain at the back (sadly not visible). At the left of the property a sign still proudly states "Station House".

Please take care when replacing the cache as I would imagine that this is a popular place to play for local children. The cache has been placed so as to be as little overlooked as possible given the close proximity of houses.
