A Casa da Póvoa é de grande importância ao longo da história da Vila de Carregosa e este brasão de meados do Séc. XVIII, através da sua imponência. Mostra um pouco isso mesmo. Muitas são as pessoas que aqui passam e nem o vêm, outras admiram-no, mas poucos conhecem o seu significado. Desta forma, pretendo dar a conhecer um pouco do seu simbolismo.
"Da antiga casa só o portão da quinta, dos meados do sec XVIII, se conserva com o antigo carácter.
Obra rara na zona. Rasga-se o vão entre dois panos de parede, e em cada duas pilastras afastadas, sem capiteis, ligadas por corninja arquitravada e com urnas nas perpendiculares daquelas; lintel curvo e estreito espaldar. Neste alastra-se o brasão, ocupando-o todo, incluindo em volutas e ornatos do tempo.
Escudo de armas rectangular e esquartelado: no 1.º estrela no meio da caderna de crescentes, pelos Carvalhos; 2.º Cruz aberta e florida, dos Pereiras; 3.º Leão rompante dos Silva; 4.º, leão rompante com bordadura de sete coelhos, por Coelhos; brica com ramo; pequeno elmo, sem paquife; timbre dos primeiros, o cisne com estrela no peito.
Na casa reconstruída, há uma bom tecto moderno, de madeira, entalhada.”
