Je me souviens, en ce temps là, le GPS n'existait pas. J'étais au milieu de nulle part et j'y ai mesuré ma position grâce au son des cloches des églises environnantes et d'un chronomètre. Pourriez-vous retrouver ma position ? Je peux reconnaître les cloches des églises de Sart-Dames-Avelines, Villers-la-Ville et Marbais. Toutes les cloches sonnent à midi à la milliseconde près. D'abord j'entends les cloches de Sart-Dames-Avelines. Après 1,645 secondes, j'entends les cloches de Villers-la-Ville. Finalement, 0,556 seconde après celles de Villers-la-Ville, j'entends les cloches de Marbais. La vitesse du son est de 340 mètres par seconde.

I remember those days there was no GPS. I was in the middle of nowhere and I measured my position thanks to the bell rings from the churches around and a chronometer. Could you find my position again ? I can identify the bells from the churches of Sart-Dames-Avelines, Villers-la-Ville and Marbais. All the bells ring at noon exactly within one millisecond accuracy. First I can hear the bells from Sart-Dames-Avelines. After 1.645 seconds I can hear the bells from Villers-la-Ville. Finally 0.556 second after the ones of Villers-la-Ville, I can hear the bells from Marbais. The speed of sound is 340 meters per second.
