Le tournage des Amants du Pont-Neuf en aura été l'illustration la plus caricaturale.
Le héros se blesse au début du tournage, ce qui va retarder le film.
Plus spectaculaire : le Pont-Neuf du film n'est pas à Paris,
Il est à Lansargues dans le département de l'Hérault, un petit village entre la mer et les vignes.
En pleine nature, on va construire le Pont-Neuf et tout le quartier qui l'entoure.
Et tout cela coûte cher, très cher !
Si bien que Léos Carax n'a plus d'argent et le tournage s'arrête.
Trois producteurs différents vont prendre le relais dont Christian Fechner qui, finalement, permettra au film d'être achevé en 1991.
