There are 10 separate points that you'll need to visit to find the information that you'll need to unlock the cache.
1. At this point you are standing in front of the original Armadale District Hall. A = the street number (plainly visible on the wall).
2. You are standing at the side of St Matthews Church. B = the number of Bells that you can see here.
3. You are standing in front of the old Armadale/Kelmscott Roads Board building (now unused). C = the street number of the building. If that sign is missing... across the road is a new multi-story building. C = the street number of that building - 15.
4. From this point you can see the front doors of the History House Museum. Next to and left of the front doors is a bench seat (made of brick) and a brass plaque. D = how old (full years) was John Leslie Davey when he died. Entry to the museum is free so spend some time looking at some of the history of the Armadale Area.
5. Only a few metres away around the corner is Birtwistle Local Studies Library. This was originally the Old Armadale Primary School built in 1900 and relocated to this site. E = the last two digits of the year it was relocated here.
6. A short distance and you are in Minnawarra park. F = the last two digits of the year that the land was aquired.
7. Memorial Park (1). G = the last two digits of the year that the Memorial Obelisk was unveiled by Sir Harry Barron.
8. Memorial Park (2). A few metres away is a dedication plaque about Memorial Park. H = the last two digits of the year that the land was purchased for a Fallen Soldiers Memorial.
9. A short walk brings you to this statue and water feature. I = the number of tools leaning against the large rock behind the statue.
10. This is the last point for this cache (outside of the final). J = the number of (large white) letters in the 3 words making up the City name at this point.
This walk can be completed anytime - day or night however access to the cache is restricted to the opening times of the Perth Hills Visitor Centre (see below). There is a wooden FTF Geocoin in the Cache for the first finder, and plenty of room for Travel Bugs and Geocoins.
Now it's time to put your math skills together and work out the combination to the padlock on the cache.
The correct combination is ((A+B+C+D+E)*10) - ((F+G+H+I+J)*5).
Work out the inner brackets first, then the outer ones then do the subtraction. The checksum for your result should be 21 and if you multiply each number by the next you should have 540.
Notes...
The cache is inside the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre building - as you walk in the main door, turn right and enter the small museum area there. You will find the Cache in the first room bolted securely to external doors. Remember that you must do the walk to answer the questions before you'll be able to open the combination lock on the cache. Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre staff have been instructed not to assist anyone regarding the cache, so please don't ask.
The Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre is not open 24 hours a day and is always closed at night. Opening times are...
Monday to Friday - 9am to 4pm and
Saturdays and Sundays - 9am to 2pm.
