The Cerro Toco is a volcano located in the eastern part of the Atacama desert next to San Pedro de Atacama, approximately 6 km south of the border between Bolivia and Chile.
It overlooks the nearby volcanoes and provides a great view of the ALMA observatory. 
You can climb this volcano quite easily on your own but you have to be careful about the altitude. The path starts around 5200m and goes up up to the top at 5616m. This is why it is advisable to go with a guide.
