L’ancienne gare de La Ferté-Imbault est située sur la ligne du Blanc-Argent, plus communément appelée ligne du BA. Cette dernière reliait à l'origine les communes de Le Blanc (Indre) à Argent (Cher). Aujourd'hui elle ne dessert plus que les villes de Salbris à Valençay (Indre).
La ligne du Blanc-Argent est issue du plan Freycinet, vaste programme national de travaux public initié en 1878. Dès cette époque, la jeune municipalité de La Ferté-Imbault s’est intéressée à cette nouvelle voie de communication. Elle a notamment acquis plusieurs terrains pour permettre le passage de la ligne sur son territoire. Le projet pris du retard et la Compagnie du chemin de fer de Paris à Orléans, propriétaire du tracé, ne débuta les travaux qu’en 1899. La gare de la Ferté-Imbault fut mise en service le 26 décembre 1901.
Progressivement, différents tronçons de la voie furent fermés à la circulation. Argent n’est plus desservie dès 1939, Le Blanc en 1953. La ligne conserva néanmoins son nom. Après de nombreuses réductions au cours du XXe siècle, le fret fut arrêté en 1988.
Bien que la ligne soit extrêmement réduite en taille, elle dessert toujours la gare de Salbris (ligne Paris-Limoges) et celle de Gièvres (ligne Lyon-Nantes). En période scolaire, le BA est principalement utilisé par les lycéens se rendant à Romorantin-Lanthenay.
La gare est transformé en simple arrêt au début des années 2010. Le bâtiment construit est typique des constructions de la fin du XIXe siècle et du début du XXe siècle. Remarquez notamment la très belle bordure émaillé

The former train station of La Ferté-Imbault is located on the Blanc-Argent railroad, also known as the BA. This line was a link bewteen the city of Le Blanc (Indre dpt) and the city of Argent (Cher dpt). Today, the train only calls at the towns between Salbris and Valençay (Indre dpt).
The BA railroad came from the Plan Freycinet which was a big public works program, initiated in 1878. Since the begining of that project, the young administation of La Ferté-Imbault was interested in this brand new way of communication. The city had bought lands to allow the train passage on its territory.The project was delayed ant the building only started in 1899. The station of La Ferté-Imbault was ready december 26th 1901.
Progressively, several parts of the way were closed to trafic. The Argent stop closed in 1939, the Le Blanc one close in 1953 but the railroad kept its name.
Despite its short distance, the BA railroad stops at Salbris (Paris-Limoges line) and at Gièvres (Lyon-Nantes line). During school time, the BA is common transport for student attending at the Romorantin-Lanthenay high school.
There is no sale point in the station since the begining of the 2010’s. The building is typical of the late XIXth century/ early XXth century style. You may notice the beautiful enamelled cornice
