Geocache Description:

A reasonable sized cache hiding in full view! But there's a trick to this so please read the full description.

This is one of my BYOB series, and if you haven't encountered one before, BYOB stands for "Bring Your Own Battery." It started out in 2009 as a self-imposed challenge: how to put a geocache in a location with no possible hiding spots and very little scope for camouflage.

The solution? Don't hide it, but make it very securely muggle-proof, and lock it. And then make the key something not obvious but easily acquired. Such as a nine volt battery! Press the battery terminals against the two contacts discreetly located on the side of the cache (and maybe give the door a gentle inward push) and -voila- open sesame!

So you will have to buy (or steal /borrow) a 9 volt battery. A cheap carbon-zinc one will do. Or alkaline. Don't bother with the lithium ones, too expensive! And if you enjoyed this BYOB cache the rest of them are down in Denmark on the south coast. Along with many other interactive and entertaining caches. I have been trying to make Denmark a sort of Geocaching Mecca — and so far, judging by the logs— I'm succeeding!

A WORD OF WARNING ABOUT 9 VOLT BATTERIES!: Don't allow the terminals to come into contact with metallic objects! This will short circuit the battery and flatten it. It will also create a fair amount of heat. So putting your battery in the glovebox or your pocket with things like keys or loose change is not a good idea.
Some manufacturers sell them with a little plastic 'keeper' to protect the terminals. Keep the keeper! Or put some tape over the terminals or pop the battery in a plastic bag. Then you will be safe and can continue logging BYOBs!

This geocache was especially created for the "WA Goes BIG in 2016" event, and installed with the permission of Fairbridge administration. And many thanks to KrabiBoy for doing the physical installation and to Mistraluna for volunteering to maintain it!
