Vous êtes arrivés dans un endroit terriblement paisible qui a pourtant été le théatre du crash d'un avion Halifax dans la nuit du 13 au 14 juillet 1944. A son bord, 7 aviateurs de la Royal Air-Force ont trouvé la mort : un Canadien officier pilote commandant de bord et six Anglais membres de l'équipage. En provenance d'Algérie, ils effectuaient une mission de parachutage d'armes destinées au maquis.
Ils ont été enterrés clandestinement le 18 juillet 1944 à proximité de l'épave par les maquisards de la 3201ème compagnie FTPF (Franc-Tireurs et Partisans Français) et des habitants des villages de Nistos et de Seich conduits par l'instituteur Lucien Rumeau. En 1954, ces derniers ont offert la plaque qui porte le nom des aviateurs.

Vous pourrez lire le panneau dédié aux aviateurs devant le cimetière et aussi entrer dans la petite cabane de bois abritant le Livre d'Or.
Quelques restes de l'avion ont été conservés près du cimetière.

Par souci de respect maximum de ce lieu chargé d'émotion, nous avons éloigné la cache, que vous trouverez plus loin, en hauteur.
Aujourd'hui, le jeu se fait le complice de la mémoire... Juste pour se souvenir...

You have come to a terribly quiet place that was yet the scene of the crash of a Halifax plane in the night of 13 to 14 July 1944. On board, 7 airmen of the Royal Air-Force died: a Canadian pilot officer in command and six English crew members. Flying from Algeria, they were on a mission of parachuting weapons destined for the maquis.
They were secretly buried on July 18, 1944 near the wreck by the maquisards of the 3201 FTPF (Franc-shooters and French Partisans) and villagers from Nistos and Seich led by schoolteacher Lucien Rumeau. In 1954, they offered the plate bearing the names of the airmen.

You will find a sign dedicated to the airmen in front of the cemetery and you will be able to enter the small wooden hut housing the Golden Book.
Some remains of the plane have been preserved near the cemetery.

For the sake of maximum respect for this place full of emotion, we have placed the box away from it, you will find it further, in height.
Today, the game is the accomplice of memory... Just to remember...
