This cache will bring you to a new (in 2015) art installation honoring Cornell's unofficial mascot, named "Touchdown" or the "Big Red Bear."
This bear isn't big, however, nor is he red; he is a small black bear cub. Touchdown debuted in 1915, which coincided with the first year that Cornell's football team went undefeated, and led fans to believe that the bear was a good omen. There were 4 sequential bear cubs who even traveled with the team to away games. There are tales of Touchdown being kidnapped in Cambridge by the Harvard team, running wild in a taffy shop in Atlantic City, and climbing goal posts before games. Since 1939, Touchdown has been represented by a student dressed in a bear costume rather than a live bear cub...but now you can see a likeness of the original bear cubs here and find a cache too.
