Geocache Description:

In 1947, developer Arthur Rubloff dubbed the 400 to 1000 blocks of North Michigan Avenue "The Magnificent Mile." That stretch of Boul Mich and its cross streets are still home to Chicago's most glossy and expensive shops, as well as to the historic Chicago Water Tower (now City Gallery) and Pumping Station, among the few structures to survive the Great Fire of 1871.

Our cache, a plastic box, is in a superior spot not far from this landmark. It contains a logbook, writing implements, various trinkets and toys and a newspaper tearsheet.

This is one of four caches being placed in connection with an article about Chicagoland geocaching appearing June 19 and 20 in the various editions of the Lerner Newspapers. Since our papers are not online, we thought we would place some caches containing copies so that cachers who aren't regular readers could see the story. Please leave the story so that others may read it. We'd love to see your comments on it.

While you're at the cache site, you can pick up a free copy of our Skyline edition.
