Le cimetière d’Urville est la seule nécropole polonaise de la Seconde guerre mondiale en France. Il comprend 696 tombes, disposées autour d’un grand monument en forme de V, surmonté d’une sculpture en aluminium symbolisant l’aigle polonais.
Pour l’essentiel, il s’agit d’hommes de la 1ère division blindée du général Maczek, engagée en août 1944 dans la bataille de Normandie.
On y trouve aussi les sépultures de soldats polonais tombés ailleurs en France au cours des combats de la Libération.
Le 6 juin 2014, lors de la commémoration des 70 ans du débarquement en nomrandie, le Président français Francois Hollande et le président polonais Bronislaw Komorowski sont venus dans ce cimetière afin de rendre hommage aux soldats polonais.

Cemetery Urville is the only Polish necropolis of the Second World War in France . It includes 696 tombs, arranged around a large V-shaped monument , topped by an aluminum sculpture symbolizing the Polish eagle.
Essentially, it is men of the 1st Armoured Division of General Maczek , initiated in August 1944 in the Battle of Normandy.
There are also the graves of Polish soldiers who died elsewhere in France during the fighting of the Liberation.
On 6 June 2014 , at the commemoration of 70 years of the normandy landings, French President Francois Hollande and Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski came to the cemetery to pay tribute to the Polish soldiers.
