Oakland Cemetery has been the site of Memorial Day services since
1866 and boasts two beautiful monuments to the Confederate dead.
More than 3,000 unknown Rebels and 16 Yanks are interred
here.
This beautiful memorial is a must-see. (this is your
quest) It was dedicated on April 26, 1894.
This virtual cache starts at N33 44.852, W84 22.509 the main
gates to the Cemetery.
You can drive or walk from there.
When you come across the object you are looking for, stand in
front with your back to the road. To your right is a small bench
placed by the Daughters of the Confederacy. Look past the bench and
there are 3 headstones. Find the headstone of solider last
name"Hopkins". He served in the Tennessee Infantry. Here is a
picture to help locate the headstone.
