When: Saturday, September 3rd (Labor Day Weekend)
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Where: Newport News Park
Who: Open to all geocachers, families, and anyone interested in geocaching.
What: A social get-together to meet fellow cachers, exchange stories, learn about different aspects of caching, swap TB's, oh yea, and some caching thrown in there too!


Newport News Park is an 8,000 acre park with two fresh water reservoirs is one of the largest municipal parks east of the Mississippi. It features bicycle and boat rental, 188-site campground, golf course, horse show arena, interpretive programs, wildlife rehabilitation center, picnic shelters, playground, restrooms, stages, 30 miles of hiking trails, 5-mile mountain bike trail, and 5.3 mile bikeway, picnic shelters, and much much more!!! Personal boats (no gas motors) may be launched for a $4.00 fee.

Join us for Games, Vendors, Information sessions, LUNCH and much more! Event time will be from 9:00 - 5:00 (As well as other events throughout the weekend!)

The Schedule

9:00 - Event officially OPENS with the UNVEILING of the LOG and GROUP PICTURE!

All Day Geologic Society will be available for questions

9:30- 10:30 Drop off of “Who’s Your Favorite” Container entries

Make/Design (at home) a crafty, devious, unusual, indescribably cache container. Bring it to the activities booth where you will be given a number for your entry. Prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

Everyone gets free “Favorite Points” for voting at the Activities Booth.

1 Ticket=1 Favorite Point.

10:00-11:30 Deadline for all submissions

11:30-2:30 Voting Time

9:30 Egg Hunt Opens. Purchase an egg, if it contains coordinates you’ve won a container! Find it at the coordinates in the egg.

9:30 -10:30 GrandpaGene Presentation on camouflaging containers. GG shares some of his favorite tips and ideas for camouflaging containers.

10:00 - 10:30 Tim DuBois, Biologist with Hampton Mosquito Control Tim is the Biologist for Hampton Mosquito Control. He recently returned from a National Conference and has some great information on those little pests we encounter in the woods.

10:15 - Store Opens/Chance Auction Opens

10:30 - 12:00 Geocaching Games Ammo can toss, pole caching

10:30 - 11:30 - GCHR Concierge - GSAK Help and local information with SNAP

10:30 - 11:30 Trivia Round 1 Trivia, teams of 2-6 will compete in a lighthearted competition of geocaching knowledge.

10:45 - Geologic Society Presentation Information about Benchmarks and locating some missing ones.

11:30 - 1:00 - LUNCH (Meal Ticket Required)

12:30 Winners of Geocaching Games Announced

12:30 - 1:30 -Geocaching Game Show Round 1 A fun collection of geocaching game show mashups

1:00 - Start of Door prize drawings - Check the board near Registration Booth for winning numbers

1:45- 2:45 Trivia Round 2 Trivia, teams of 2-6 will compete in a lighthearted competition of geocaching knowledge.

3:00 - 4:00 Geocaching Game Show Round 2 A fun collection of geocaching game show mashups

4:00 - Chance Auction Winners Any Unclaimed Door Prizes will be redrawn

5:00 - Event ends/Clean up begins
