Retkińska Morela

Znana każdemu mieszkańcowi Retkini i Karolewa „Kula” to tak naprawdę rzeźba „Retkińska morela” autorstwa Ryszarda Popowa (przy współpracy Jana Hrycka). Powstała ona w 1975 roku i wykonana została z metalowych odpadów poprodukcyjnych.

Nazwa rzeźby stanowi żartobliwe nawiązanie do nazwiska francuskiego artysty Françoisa Morelleta, którego rzeźba Kula – raster została zaprezentowana na wystawie w Muzeum Sztuki w Łodzi w 1973 roku.

This object is well known to the residents of Retkinia and Karolew. They called it “the sphere”. In fact this is a sculpture made by Ryszard Popow (in co-operation with Jan Hrycek) and its name could be translated as “Retkinia’s Apricot”. It was made in 1975 from metal postproduction wastes.

The name is a humorous reference to the name of a French artist - Françoisa Morellet (in polish Apricot is “Morela”), whose sculpture Sphere – raster was shown in 1973 in Museum of Art in Łódź.
