Geocache Description:

There are literally thousands of war memorials around the country.  Memorials were usually raised through public subscription to remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom of our country.  The year 2014 was the centenary of the start of the First World War, so it was about time there was a series dedicated to war memorials.  There is an un-numbered series in Scotland Lest-we-forget and another called Poppies on Parade.  Any of these will happily be added to the war memorial series, just ask for a number.  The name of ths series We Shall Remember Them, was chosen from the very moving poem: "For The Fallen" by Laurence Binyon.  It is well worth searching out and reading.

This is an unusual memorial because it is a plaque inside the church, which is well worth a visit.

The church is open in normal daylight hours. Please make sure you close the outer door and attach the hook as per the instructions to keep out sheep and birds.

This is a simple offset multi cache; the cache is not at the above coordinates but can be found at:

N 54 20.ABC  W 001 44.DEF

To calculate the northings, go to the plaque at the coordinates above:

A = The second digit of the first date on the plaque minus the second digit of the second date.

B = The number of letters in the third word on the plaque minus 1.

C = The number of letters in the last word at the bottom of the plaque..

Go further into the church to find a second plaque on the opposite wall  The numbers needed for the westings can be obtained from this plaque:

D = The second date on the plaque minus the first.

E = The number of letters in the middle word on the bottom line of the plaque minus 3.

F = The first numeral on the plaque.

Checksum = 30

We will remember them!

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Just-us-Two know first at justustwo1013@gmail.com so they can keep track of the memorial numbers and names to avoid any duplication.
