Geocache Description:

A cache & dash opportunity on the Southern edge of Thurston Village.
Stealth will be required as this is a deceptively busy road, but you can park right next to the cache to provide yourself with some cover.

Thurston Primitive Methodist Church was built in 1872 to seat 40 in the congregation.

This Church has always fascinated me. Since moving nearby in 1987 I have been past at least once a week, every day when I went to school in the village, and very rarely have I seen anyone there!
The following info was true at the time of publication but sadly since early 2016 there are no longer any services held at this tiny Chapel.

The website for the Bury St Edmunds Methodist Circuit describes this as "a small church with a big heart". It is certainly small, I know people with garages bigger than this building, and if the way the building and small area of garden surrounding the building are cared for is anything to go by, I would have to agree that it does indeed have a big heart.
The circuit list the church as having weekly afternoon worship for the congregation as well as a "strong and welcoming" fellowship.

I took a photograph of this Church in August 2015. Whilst researching on the internet I discovered an almost identical photograph taken in 1986. I say almost because in that photograph there is a framework to the left of the door for training climbing plants which no longer exists. Everything else appears the same, even down to the light above the front door!

Although I've often thought about placing a cache here it was as I drove past this week that I spotted a gap in the hedge simply calling out for a geocache, and who am I to resist that call ;-)

You are looking for a small clip lock box. Please replace as found. You may encounter a tiny nettle or two but no need to get stung and the cache can be accessed from either side although it sits on the road side of the boundary.
