All Saints Church, Croughton, is part of Astwick Vale Benefice on the southern edge of the Peterborough Diocese. Astwick Vale Benefice unites Christians from the villages of Aynho, Croughton, Evenley, Farthinghoe, Hinton-in-the-Hedges and Steane.
All Saints' is a stone rubble church with an aisled and clerestoreyed nave, chancel and W tower. The North nave arcade has three late-12th century bays and a half- bay added at the east end in the 13th century. The 13th century South arcade covers the same distance in three slightly wider bays. In both arcades the arches are inaccurately positioned on their piers; this is especially marked on pier 2 south and pier 3 north. The clerestorey is a 14th century addition, and there are North and South doorways under porches. There is no chancel arch but the chancel may date from around the 1300's and has a N chapel (now housing the organ) and vestry. The three-storey west tower is short and unbuttressed. Its arch is late 12th century but all its windows and its doorway were replaced in the early 14th century. The font is another 13th century piece, apparently recarved in the 15th century and once again in the 19th century.
The remains of an Iron Age fort, Rainsborough Camp ( wich i have a geocache Rainsborough View nearby), lie to the north-west of the village, and the site of the long-abandoned mediaeval village of Astwick lies to the north-east.
