Geocache Description:

This is the 4th oldest (and active) geocache in Ontario and the 13th in Canada!

Located just metres off of the Swift Rapids road.

The Swift Marsh is on the southern edge of the Canadian Shield in Ontario.

The 14km road and the surrounding area was very popular with 4x4 offroaders, mountain bikers, duck hunters, upland game hunters, deer hunters, hikers and paddlers.
In mid-2019, the road was closed to non-resident vehicle traffic (due to garbage dumping).
Vehicles using the road must now have a permit.
Obey all signage - vehicles on the road without a permit are subject to a fine!

At time of writing (March 2020) the cache can no longer be accessed by motor vehicle.

It should noted that the cache is still accessible on foot from the other end of the road via Lock 43 on the Trent Severn Waterway.
(It is approximately a 1km walk from the Lock 43 to the cache).

This is a truly beautiful and breathtaking area of the province.
Efforts to arrange permission/exceptions for geocachers to use the road have regrettably been without result - so the cache is now back online in Spring 2020 with a new waypoint for Lock 43 as the emphasized access point.
