The cache is hidden somewhere within the graveyard of St Egwad's Church, Llanfynydd. One side of the churchyard is bounded by the River Sannan which until the early 20th century was crossed by ford and stepping stones. On the western edge is the Llanfynydd Community Garden which is accessed from the other side via the village school which only recently closed down (Christmas 2014).
There was a parish church here in the post-conquest period and by 1331 it was a possesion of St Davids. The earliest part of today's building is the tower which dates to around 1400 and has a spiral stair and turret like that of St Cathen's Church in Llangathen in the same benefice. The nave and chancel are thought to date from c1500.
The church is not currently kept open but a key is available to those who wish to see inside - details of the key holder are to be found on the noticeboard in the 18th century lychgate.
Services are currently held fortnightly at the church.
The members of the church warmly welcome you to enjoy the peace and tranquility of this ancient site but ask that you do not allow your geodog to foul the churchyard. Please also take care whilst exploring the churchyard as the ground is very uneven.
This cache is placed in association with God's Hi-Five Youth Church on behalf of the members of Llanfynydd church with the full knowledge and permission of the vicar and the BCC.
