About SideTracked Caches

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. It's a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too. More Information can be found at the SideTracked Website

About Hull Paragon Station

Hull Paragon Interchange is an integrated rail and bus station in the city centre of Kingston upon Hull, England.

Originally named ‘Hull Paragon Street Station’, Hull interchange was opened on the 8th of May 1848 to replace the former ‘Manor House Street station’.

Half a century after opening the North Eastern Railway rebuilt and expanded the station, creating the last of Britain's great barrel-vaulted glass-and-iron railway stations (the station has the name ‘barrel vaulted’ because of the roof’s five half barrel shapes made of both glass and iron). it reopened in 1904.

In 2007 the train station was joined by the nearby bus station, this was so commuters can get off a train and on a bus all under one roof.

In 1927 the incoming 08:22 from Withernsea to Hull collided head-on with the 09:05 from Hull to Scarborough. 12 passengers were killed and 24 were seriously injured. This was due to one of the signal men had pulled the wrong lever; he had intended to set the points for the incoming train but instead set the points ahead of the Scarborough.

This is a magnetic cache located near the station car park on the south side of the station, as the caches in this series are meant to be ‘Cache and Dashes for public transport users’ the cache shouldn’t be too hard so we have made the D/T a 1.5/1 as it is also accessible for wheel chairs. The cache Is a short walk from the station (just outside the south entrance) so shouldn’t take too long either
