The monastery was built from 568 - 604 near Mtskheta, the former capital of Georgia. It was built at a place, where Nino put up a wooden cross in the third century. She was the woman, who brought Christianity to Georgia.
The monastery belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage Site and has bee renovated from 2005 - 2007.
The way up to the mountain is 7 km long - you can take a Taxi from Mtskheta.
The cache is a small box and it´s NOT hidden at the monastery itself. Next to the church there is a big wall made of stones - look there at eye level! I made spoiler pictures - please watch them, otherwise you destroy the wall unnecessarily ... maybe!
