The Canadian Northern Railroad constructed one of North Americas longest wooden train trestlesright here in my neck of the woods.
It is 2414 feet long, 110 feet above the water level in the Paddle River, the trestle was framed by 12 inch timbers and used 222,635 foot board measures of timber. It required 11,395 pounds of iron spikes and 4279 feet of log piling. The original cost was $10,969.00 in 1919.
The enormity of this endeavour at that time is such that I can't imagine it ever getting done.
I have hidden the cache off the beaten path as there seems to be a lot of destruction happening here.
I have added an inactivated geocoin for someone to have for themselves.
