Geocache Description:

Today's fort was built by the Ottomans in the period from 1719 to 1723 on the territory of the ancient and medieval fortress.

Like any artillery fortification, today's Nis Fortress has a polygonal base, with seven unequal sides and four large gates (Stambol gate, Belgrade gate , aqueous or jagodinmalska gate and Vidin gate), and a small gate which leads to the city trenches and eight bastion terraces. The length of the walls is 2,100 m, they are 3 m wide and 8 m high. The fortress covers an area of 22 ha, 80 acres and 52 square meters. Today it is a beautiful park with many cafes and a few souvenir shops.

The cache is placed directly above the main entrance called the Stambol gate. The logbook and a small pencil are placed inside a black film canister, and also now a Goofy figurine is placed inside for trade. Climb the final staircase which leads to the top of the Fortress gate, then straight forward till the end iron fence with some bolts on it. (Look at the spoiler photo)
