5:30-8:00 p.m.

In your "Will Attend" log, please tell me 3 of your favorite songs. I am going to try to make a playlist of all the songs to play during the event.

Join fellow cachers in South Arlington for a "No Frills" event.

No door prizes - that's a frill!

No geocaching games - that's a frill! (They do have free trivia boxes for those interested!)

No contests - that's a frill!

They do have free wi-fi, that's a frill that geocachers enjoy!

They have a good selection of food and drinks for those interested. The place is kid-friendly.

This event is being hosted by a group of cachers that meet every Wednesday at 5:00 pm, so even if there's not an event, we are probably there. Come visit!

Wanting to stay with our Redd Metal way of things, we wanted to make this event music themed as well. All that we ask is that you wear one of your favorite Band / Musician shirts. Of course, this is not a requirement, but we think it will make it fun and "semi" themed. I have learned over the years, people love music, and something as simple as wearing a shirt with a band name on it can start great conversations.

Music is the least cerebral of all the art-forms and possibly the most social of all forms of expression. Humanity's success as a species is due entirely to our social organization. Music is also a crucial tool for social bonding among adults, for making a tribe feel like a tribe. We use music to modulate our own emotions and those of others. There are ecstatic chants and dances for spiritual purposes, or for just relaxing and relieving stress. There are work songs to make tedious tasks more bearable. There are marches and fight songs to prepare for battle, and there are lullabyes to soothe each other to sleep. There are love songs for courtship and battle raps to playfully establish social dominance.

Music also allows each generation their own voice as it is constantly changing and always evolving. Music has the capacity to teach us things about ourself and others, other cultures, other periods of history. Music contains within itself infinite possibilities so it is like an always expanding universe with mystical like qualities. Music inspires us. It changes our state of mind and has the capacity to transform us and those around us. Music is perhaps the most unifying form of expression as it has the power to bring us together. Music helps us to forget ourselves, our problems, and the clammer of the mind and relinquish to a greater collective whole. Music is one of the greatest ways to express the human condition in all its facets. Music is perhaps the best way to communicate the most elusive of human conditions - love!
