Geocache Description:

Lobis – pet konteineris. Turėti savo rašymo priemonę. Koordinatės gali būti netikslios. Jei galėsite užfiksuoti tikslesnes - mielai patikslinsiu.

Cashe - pet container. BYOP. Coordinates may be inaccurate. If you are able to capture more precise - I will be happy to clarify them.


Pirmąją bažnyčią ant piliakalnio 1472–1495 m. pastatė Mykolas Jogelavičius. Ji minima ir 1597 m. Prie bažnyčios buvo varpinė su 2 varpais, klebonija. Parapijai priklausė malūnas prie Dubysos ir ūkis. Apie 1570–1614 m. evangelikai reformatai bažnyčią pasisavino. Jie po 1614 m. Kurtuvėnuose pasistatė bažnyčią. Ji XVII a. 2-ojoje pusėje sunyko.

1684 m. katalikai pasistatė naują bažnyčią. Nagurskiai 1783–1796 m. pagal Martyno Knakfuso projektą pastatė dabartinę. Nuo 1804 m. veikė parapinė mokykla. Kapinėse 1858 m. pastatyta koplyčia. 1908–1914 m. veikė Lietuvių katalikų blaivybės draugijos skyrius. Kurtuvėnų parapijai nuo 1858 m. priklausė Gordų filija (10 km į pietus nuo Kurtuvėnų, dabar Vijurkų kaimas).

Bažnyčia vėlyvojo baroko stiliaus, halinė, dvibokštė, su apside. Vidus 3 navų. Šventoriaus tvora mūrinė. Jame stovi medinė varpinė.

The first church on the mound in 1472-1495 Mykolas Jogelavicius built. Also it is mentioned in 1597. The church has a bell tower with two bells, parsonage. To the parish belonged Dubysa mill and farm. On the 1570-1614 year Evangelical Reformed Church appropriated. They after 1614 at Kurtuvenai built ovn church. It at seventeenth century 2nd half were decayed.

1684 catholics built a new church. Nagurskiai 1783-1796 year according Martin Knackfuss project built the current. Since 1804 here acted a parish school. Chapel buildt in the cemetery in 1858. 1908-1914 year there were Lithuanian Catholic temperance society. Kurtuvėnai parish since 1858 owned by Gord philia (10 km south of Kurtuvenai now Vijurkai village).

The church is in the late baroque style, a hall, two towers, with an apse. The interior three naves. Churchyard surrounded by brick fence. It is a wooden bell tower here.
