The Iller Creek Unit is one of the more popular conservation areas acquired through the Conservation Futures Program. Consisting of 966 acres of trails and habitat on the east flanks of Tower Mountain, this property includes granite monoliths popular with rock climbers, seasonal creeks, and views of Spokane Valley and the Palouse.
The Iller Creek Conservation Area hosts 163 species of invertebrates, 120 species of birds, 15 mammals and 2 amphibians. Moose and black bear are frequently seen by visitors. (source: Spokane County)
To the northwest, the TV towers can be seen that give "Tower" mountain (also known as Krell Hill) it's nickname. They're quite visible at night as the red lights stand out. 2015 was the inaugural year of Spokane Geocache Tour. This Spokane County tour sent geocachers on a trip through Spokane History, finding caches in areas of historical significance. Visiting urban and rural gems, historic farming communities, forts and geological marvels. The Spokane History Geocache Tour rewarded those who completed with a commemorative Geocoin featuring the native Spokane Salish language.
