Simon Bolivar,
Venezuelan military and political leader, played an instrumental role in the establishment of Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru and Colombia as sovereign states independent of Spanish rule.
Although most Latin Americans view him as a great liberating force, history has been kind to him. His shrewd political manouvering and ruthless willingness to sacrifice others to achieve his aims is generally glossed over in favour of his success in liberating many countries in the region from Spanish rule.
This cache is in celebration of Bolvar's sartorial style and his magnificently tasseled epaulettes, that continue to provide inspiration to Latin American dictators to this day.
