Geocache Description:

Built in 1896. It suffered during the First World War. Functioned until the 20th century, the end of 50 years. Currently it stands abandoned, as a monument to the tsarist Russification policy - land vacated by the partial lowering of Lake Engure, were able to get only those farmers who converted to orthodoxy. The First World War and the German occupation devastated the church - are broken towers and a building used as a fish salting house. After the war the church a few years was held by the Sasmaka priest in the middle of 1930 there were 300 members of the church existed until 1950 year end.

Despite anywhere on the internet, this church referred as plundered, devastated and abandoned ... it is not abandoned at all. It is still all there, even though it has no windows and has been plundered in the entire inside. The bell has remained functional and the people are looking for a way to God even today.
