Geocache Description:

Number 258 in a series of caches where a red telephone box is in close proximity to a post box.

The only rule is that they have to be able to be photographed together, and the phone boxes have to be red.

At first glimpse, this red telephone box looks just like any other. However, on further inspection you will see that it no longer holds a public pay phone; instead you will find a tier of bookshelves supporting upto 100 books. Abbots Langley Parish Council adopted this phone box from BT and following its restoration in 2014, local councillor Chris Whately-Smith, with local residents' support and Abbots Langley Parish Council's permission, set up "Hunton Bridge telephone box book swap library". A novel (ah hem!) use and preservation of such an iconic piece of British heritage whilst still providing a community amenity.

As well as books, you will also find inside: a map of the area; a small roll of remembrance for those fallen in the First World War and some history of Hunton Bridge and the conservation area. Plus........ a geocache; placed with kind permission of Abbots Langley Parish Council. There's room for small swaps in the cache (please leave the stamp as this is a letterbox cache), but why not also bring some books to swap around the cache?!

The Fine Pair series was originally started by wizardsmum.

If anybody would like to place 'A Fine Pair' of their own please do, I would just ask that you let mattd2k at geocachingafinepair@gmail.com know first so he can keep track of the numbers and locations to avoid duplication.

He also keeps a public Bookmark List of this series so once your cache is published please contact him via his profile page to have yours added.
