A Hike to Windy Mountain Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Heartland Cacher: Archiving since the event is long over and everyone has had time to log his/her attendance. If not, the listing is not locked, which also goes if the CO wants to add some additional remarks. This also prevents it from appearing on pocket queries unnecessarily. and keeps it from continuing to appear on cacher's search lists. From the guidelines: http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#event
After an event has occurred, the listing is to be archived by the geocache owner.
Geocache Description:

This is a different type of event for this area, but I thought I would give it a go. We'll meet at the posted coordinates at 10:00 am and proceed up the Painter Gulch road to the TH. If folks don’t have a 4wd vehicle, I have room for 4. You can park your vehicles at the posted coords. Please indicate if you have a 4wd vehicle and if you will be able to drive people to the TH. The hike is about 6 miles round trip and takes 3-4 hours (or longer depending on our trekking speed) We will have lunch on top of Windy Mountain.

Also, please be aware Windy Mountain sits at 10,262 feet. This means problems may arise such as, shortness of breath, altitude sickness, pulmonary edema, cerebral edema, etc... This information is not meant to scare you away from attending, only to keep you informed and aware of the potential risks.

When you reach the top, witness the majestic Beartooth Mountains to the North and the Absarokas to the South. BYO water, sunscreen, warm clothes, camera, lunch, etc... Caches will be placed before the event for your enjoyment. Hope to see you there!

PLEASE PUT THIS EVENT ON YOUR WATCH LIST AS THERE MAY BE FUTURE UPDATES

Feel free to plan on making this a weekend trip. Fly fishing, summer skiing, hiking, and many other activities abound in this mountain paradise. There are 7 fee campgrounds in the immediate area and 4 or 5 dispersed campgrounds as well (dispersed meaning there are no fees to camp there).
