It is two Unknown caches bound together: “Vive la France” (GC5T5NQ) in Rhode Island and L'Hermione (GC5T2RC) in Paris.
Marquis de Lafayette, by the time he was 16 he had already inherited the family fortune and was a Captain in the French Army. When he was 17 he first heard of America’s fight for independence. He later recalled that “From the first moment I heard the name of America, I loved it; from the instant I knew it struggled for freedom, I was consumed with the desire to shed my blood for her I will count the days I got the chance to serve it, everywhere and anytime, among the happiest days of my life.”
Within a short time he had purchased his own ship and paid for his own crew and was on his way to America. Congress was amazed when this boyish 19 year old French aristocrat presented himself and offered to serve in Washington’s army without pay.
He proved his valor at The Battle of Brandywine and his devotion at the brutal Valley Forge and became one of Washington’s most trusted Generals.
At the age of 21, Lafayette commanded troops at the Battle of Rhode Island. The first major battle for the new American and French alliance. The battle ended in a draw as poor communication as well as a hurricane dashed the Franco/American battle plan. The new allies however, learned some valuable lessons during the battle that they later put to use in the victory at Yorktown. I think it’s pretty safe to say that without France there would be no United States of America, so I say “Vive la France”
This cache will take you to some interesting places including some historic locations from the Battle of Rhode Island.
You will need to visit each waypoint and answer questions that will give you a number for each letter. some of the numbers you will use to find the cache here in Rhode Island and some of the numbers you will need to trade with your new French friend so they can find the final in Paris. Your partner in France will have to do the same and provide you with the information you need to find the final here.
You can visit the stages in any order you like. The distance between the stages is over 10 miles.

Here you will visit the position of American line. You will find a sign with information about the battle, unfortunately it is very difficult to read. Beyond the sign there is a line of boulders.

Here you will visit a relic from the battle. You will find a plaque that tells the story of the relic. (F = the second digit of the first date mentioned on the plaque)
At the very bottom of the plaque there is a date. (B = the third digit of the year)

Here you will visit the position of the British line. You will find a very similar sign, but this one can be more easily read. The center of the sign tells the story of the battle with bullet points that correspond to the map. You will be looking for the sentence between bullet points 4 and 5.

Here you will visit the beautiful memorial that is Patriots Park. On the backside of the memorial you will find a map carved in stone with corresponding numbers to the right.

Here you will have traveled across the state line into Massachusetts to Lafayette Park in Fall River. You will find a magnificent statue of the General. On the very front of the statue base is a small plaque that starts with the words “Major General Lafayette”.

Once you have visited all the waypoints and answered the questions you should have a number for each of the following letters:
D,B, F, G, I, K
D, B and F need to be shared with a cacher in Paris in return for letters H, J and L. Be sure to check the logs for someone from France looking for a partner or you can leave a note on the cache page in Paris L'Hermione (GC5T2RC) to try and find an international partner.
You may sign the log for your partner and can have your partner sign the Paris log for you. Wether or not you choose to log both as a find is up to you.

Il s’agit de deux caches Unknown liées : “Vive la France” (GC5T5NQ) à Rhode Island, et “L’Hermione” (GC5T2RC) à Paris, France.
A l’époque, le Marquis de Lafayette, âgé de 16 ans, avait déjà hérité de la fortune familiale, et avait le grade de capitaine dans l’armée française. A 17 ans, il entendit parler pour la première fois du combat pour l’indépendance américaine. Dans ses souvenirs : « Depuis le moment où j’entendis le nom Amérique, j’en devins amoureux, et depuis l’instant où j’appris sa lutte pour l’indépendance, je fus consumé par le désir de verser mon sang pour elle et les jours où j’eus l’occasion de la servir, partout et a tout moment, comptent parmi les plus heureux de ma vie ». En peu de temps, il acquit son propre navire, embaucha son propre équipage et prit la mer pour l’Amérique. Le Congrès fût émerveillé quand ce garçon de 19 ans, aristocrate français, se présenta pour offrir bénévolement ses services à l’armée de Washington.
Il prouva sa valeur à la bataille de Brandywine et sa dévotion à la terrible Valley Forge, et devint un des généraux de confiance de Washington.
Lafayette commanda les troupes à la bataille de Rhode Island. Ce fût la première bataille majeure de la nouvelle alliance franco-américaine. La conclusion de cette bataille fût indécise, autant à cause des mauvaises communications qu’à cause d’un ouragan qui perturba le plan de bataille franco-américain. Les nouveaux alliés en tirèrent cependant des leçons profitables, lesquelles porteront leurs fruits plus tard, à la victoire de Yorktown.
Je pense qu’on peut dire sans beaucoup de risques que sans la France, il n’y aurait pas eu d’Etats-unis d’Amérique, donc je dis : “Vive la France”
La cache vous fera passer par quelques lieux intéressants, dont certains endroits historiques de la bataille de Rhode Island.
Vous devrez visiter chaque waypoint et répondre aux questions qui vous fourniront un chiffre pour chaque lettre. Certains de ces chiffres seront utilisés pour trouver la cache ici, à Rhode Island, tandis que les autres vous permettront d’échanger avec votre nouvel ami français pour lui permettre de trouver la cache finale à Paris.
Votre partenaire français devra faire de même et vous fournir les informations nécessaires pour vous permettre de trouver le final ici.

Ici, vous visiterez l’emplacement des positions américaines. Vous y trouverez un indicateur donnant des informations sur la bataille, malheureusement assez difficiles à lire. Derrière cet indicateur, se trouve une ligne de rochers.

Ici, vous visiterez l’emplacement des positions britanniques. Il y a un indicateur similaire, mais celui-ci se laisse lire plus facilement. Au centre de cet indicateur est racontée l’historique de la bataille avec des marques circulaires qui correspondent à la carte. Regardez la phrase entre les marques 4 et 5.

Ici, vous aurez traversé la frontière du Massachusetts, vers Lafayette Park à Fall
