C'est une autre manière d'utiliser son gps. Une sorte de réalité augmentée. Cela peut être une aventure, ou une simple "visite guidée". Laissez vous simplement aller aux explications qui apparaîtront sur votre GPS ou smartphone (plus d'explications plus bas). |

Il existe de nombreuses catégories de géocaches. On pouvait auparavant placer des caches virtuelles ou des webcam caches dont la particularité était de mettre en avant des lieux, sans poser de boite.
Désormais pour ce genre de caches il faudra les placer via le site waymarking (développé par groundspeak). C'est une autre manière de pratiquer notre loisir préféré sans recherche de boite.
Pour loguer un waymark il faut en général vous prendre en photo (ou votre Gps) devant le waymark recherché.
- Sachez qu'il y a de très nombreuses catégories de waymark dont certaines n'ont que peu intérêt. En effet, contrairement au géocoaching on peut loguer ses propres waymark,donc certains sont malheureusement créés dans le seul but de faire grimper les compteurs.... -

Le Benchmarking
ll y a sur le site de groundspeak une section nommée "benchmark", et elle est désespérément vide! Nous ne pouvons malheureusement pas en valider en France mais nous pouvons toutefois les chercher.
Afin de localiser un objet sur la Terre il faut en définir un système Géodésique. En France, il a donc été créé un Réseau Géodésique et de nivellement physiquement lié à la croute terrestre (borne, pilier, plaque, repère, etc...) dont les coordonnées et/ou l'altitude sont connues avec précision. Ces différents points sont les benchmarks!
Il y en a de nombreux genres mais on peu trouver par exemple:

- les bornes IGN que l'on trouve le longs des routes, dans des champs... |

- les repères de nivellement que vous avez forcement "croisé" en ville, au pied d'un bâtiment par exemple |

- les azimut comme le sommet d'un château d'eau, ou d'un clocher... |

Je vous propose via cette wherigo de trouver quelques un de ces "benchmarks" sur Annecy au travers d'une promenade d'une petite heure. Vous pourrez ainsi jouer à une wherigo, loguer peut être vos premiers waymarks et terminer, bien sûr, par une géocache.

Wherigo: Pour jouer il vous faudra un Gps compatible, ou l'application dédiée sur smartphone.
Téléchargez la cartouche de jeu en version française en cliquant sur ce lien : Wheriwaybenchmarking. Cliquez sur download et choisir la version pocket PC pour les smartphones. Pensez à bien vous authentifier avec les identifiants du site geocaching.

It's an other way to use a GPS, a kind of augmented reality. This can be an adventure, or a simple "guided tour". Let you just go to the explanations that will appear on your GPS or smartphone (more below explanation). |
There are many kinds of geocaches. You could previously set virtual caches or webcam caches whose characteristic was to highlight places, without any box.
Now for this kind of caches we have to create them via the waymarking website (developed by groundspeak). It's another way to practice our favorite hobby without search box.
To log a Waymark we have usually to take your picture (or your Gps) in front of the desired Waymark.
- They are very many categories of Waymark some have not a lot of interest. Contrary to geocaching we can log our own Waymark , so unfortunately some are created for the only purpose of driving up counters ....

Le Benchmarking
On the groundspeak internet website, we can find a section called "benchmark", and for french users this section is.... empty . Unfortunatly no benchmarks can be "validated" in france but we can anyway search for it.
To locate an object on Earth a geodetic system must define. In France, a Geodesy network and leveling has been created physically linked to the Earth's crust (terminal, pillar, plaque, marker, etc ...) whose coordinates and / or altitude are known accurately. These points are the benchmarks!
There is a lot of kinds and we can find for exemple

- IGN boundary often found along roads, in fields... |

- the benchmarks that you necessarily "cross" in the city, at the foot of a building example |

- the azimuth like the top of a water tower or a bell tower ... |

I offer this via Wherigo to find some of these "benchmarks" on Annecy through a walk of an hour. You will be able to play a Wherigo, maybe log your first waymarks and at end, of course, find a geocache.
