Geocache Description:

Join us for an afternoon of fun and friendship on the Sunshine Coast to celebrate and remember the 100th Anniversary of Anzac.
Last year’s event our 2nd was enjoyed by those who attended and many suggested we hold it again.

The event will be held at Dunethin Rock Scout Camp and Water Activities Centre on the Maroochy River. Dunethin Rock is situated in a tranquil, peaceful setting adjacent to Lake Dunethin and the Maroochy River. Address: 4 Lake Dunethin Road, Maroochy River 4561
The afternoon will kick off at 2pm on Saturday 1st August 2015 and will finish around 5 pm. Cachers are welcome to stay and enjoy some extra fellowship into the night around the campfire. Please bring a plate of goodies to share and BYO drinks. We will also be holding a sausage sizzle.

For those among us who enjoy camping, you have the option of arriving Friday and staying until Sunday afternoon. Camping costs are $8.50 per person per night (no power). Facilities are well maintained. Yes, the showers are hot!  Geo-Cachers will have exclusive use of the Camp Grounds for this weekend. Please advise in your log if you intend on camping in tents or are bringing a camper etc so that we can allot spaces. Motor homes, caravans and camper trailers are all welcome (in the event of wet weather spaces will be limited).
There are no shops nearby so please bring everything you need with you.

There are campfire/cooking areas and fires are restricted to those areas.

There will be some Lucky Draws and a FTF Draw as well.

There will be a prize for the campsite which best depicts the Anzac Tradition

Information for campers.

Campers will have access to the main hall and kitchen. This will mean that you can spend less time packing and setting up and more time caching. The kitchen has a microwave, oven, jug, crockery, cutlery and a cold room. The main hall has tables and chairs. Canoes (and a few single seat Kayaks) can be hired on Saturday and Sunday (first in first served no pre-bookings). Fees are $10.00 per half day per canoe. If you team up you can fit two or three people in a canoe and split the cost.

We have several terrain 5 caches on the river (Muru-kutchi Trail) and hope to add more to that before the Event.  There are other family friendly caches nearby and this GZ is the gateway to many other caching locations on the Sunshine Coast.

Looking forward to seeing old and new friends!

HOW TO GET TO
DUNETHIN ROCK SCOUT CAMP
Travel via Bruce Highway, turn off at the Yandina exit and take the first turn left into Vee Road, and left again onto the Yandina-Bli Bli Road.  Follow this road for approximately 5 kms.  At the end of the long straight stretch, turn left in Pearce Drive (gravel road) turning left again into Lake Dunethin Road.  Please enter Dunethin Rock Scout Camp through the second gateway.
Alternatively, from the south, you can exit at the Nambour Connection Road passing by the Big Pineapple, traveling through Nambour and turning right at the Yandina Caravan Park into Wharf Street.  This leads on to become the Yandina-Bli Bli Road with the same instructions as above.
You may also take the Nambour-Bli Bli Road exit traveling east and turning left after the Bli Bli State School into Willis Road and Thomas Road.  Dunethin Rock Scout Camp signs can be found on the Yandina-Bli Bli Road.  Turn right into Pearce Drive and proceed down the hill and turn right into Lake Dunethin Road.  Dunethin Rock Road is a very narrow gravel road.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU BRING YOUR SUPPLY OF INSECT REPELLANT AS THE BITIES CAN BE A LITTLE FRIENDLY.
