Rac, berceau de Malataverne.
Ce hameau date bien avant l’ère chrétienne. Des tombes gauloises et villas romaines attestent la formation d’un village dans ces hauteurs.
En 1083 Rac possède sur son territoire la chapelle Notre Dame de Montchamp.
Celle de Rac, l’église St Jean Baptiste apparaitra au cours du XIIème siècle.
Ce n’est qu’en 1891 que le transfert du chef lieu de la commune de Rac à Malataverne est officialisé.
Je vous propose de découvrir ce petit hameau avec son église, la troisième de Malataverne et la seule à ne pas avoir de cache ! C’est chose faite à présent.

If you like the little village of Malataverne, let’s have a look to Rac, its birthplace.
This hamlet dates back to antiquity. Gallic graves and Roman houses were found in those hills.
In 1083, Rac already had the chapel of Notre Dame de Montchamp on its area.
In the 12th century, they built another church, the one you can see, dedicated to St Jean Baptiste.
In 1891, Rac lost its independence as a village, being joined to the village of Malataverne whose plains attracted more people.
If you have already found the caches of Notre Dame de Montchamp and the one at the church of Malataverne, try to find the third one which asks for lots of gentleness!!!
