Pramen – přirozený, soustředěný vývěr podzemní vody na zemský povrch. V hydrobiologii se oblast prameniště nazývá cizím slovem krenál, který se dělí na eukrenál (vlastní pramen) a hypokrenál (pramenná stružka). Organismy, které je obývají, se nazývají krenon.
Prameny mají obvykle stálou teplotu, která se přibližně rovná průměrné roční teplotě vzduchu na daném území. Výjimkou jsou termální prameny. Výzkumem pramenů se zabývá krenologie.
Źródło – naturalny, skoncentrowany, samoczynny wypływ wody podziemnej na powierzchnię Ziemi. W hydrobiologii strefa źródliskowa określana jest nazwą krenal, dzielący się na eukrenal (źródło właściwe) i hypokrenal (strefę odpływu źródła), natomiast organizmy je zamieszkujące to krenon.
Zazwyczaj źródła mają stałą temperaturę, równą w przybliżeniu średniej w ciągu roku temperaturze powietrza w danym obszarze. Wyjątkiem są źródła termalne. Badaniem źródeł zajmuje się krenologia.
Spring – a natural, concentrated, spontaneous outflow of underground water to the surface of the ground. In hydrobiology, the headwater zone is called a crenon, which is divided into a eucrenon (proper spring) and hypocrenon (headstream). The organisms living there are called crenon fauna.
Springs usually have a constant temperature, close to the average annual temperature of the local air. Hot springs are an exception. The study of springs is called crenology or spring hydrology.
