Geocache Description:

There are literally thousands of War memorials around the country.

WW1 Memorials were usually raised through public subscription to remember those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. 2014 was the centenary of the start of the First World War, so it was about time there was a series dedicated to War Memorials. There is an un-numbered series in Scotland called, “Lest we forget” and another we have learned about called “Poppies on Parade”. We will gladly add any of these to the War Memorial Series, just ask for a number. The name of this series We Shall remember them, was chosen from the very moving poem “For the Fallen” by Laurence Binyon. It is well worth searching out and reading.”

This war memorial is placed in Tittybottle Park, and commemorates those from Eaglescliffe and Preston on Tees who have fallen in conflict.

The co-ordinates of the cache can be found at  .......  N54 31.ABC        W001 20.DEF

A = left hand side of memorial, number of letters in the surname of the member from the 2/4th Dorsets ?

B = left hand side of memorial, how many fell from the DLI ?

C = right hand side, how many in total whose surnames began with A and B ?

D = number of letters in the 9th surname on the left hand side

E = Also in the park, is another, smaller memorial. On what year was the level crossing still in use (2nd letter of the year) ?

F = on the right hand side of the war memorial, the letters in the surname of the corporal from the Oxford and Bucks infantry

Checksum = 42

“If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Just-us-Two know first at justustwo1013@gmail.com so they can keep track of the memorial numbers and names to avoid any duplication.
