In the days when entrance fees where charged, you would have to pay at this lovely bluestone ticket box before heading up the hill. Fees where stopped being charged because it now snows on Donna Buang on average less then 6 times per a year. Thanks Climate Change. I worked here 1 year which was interesting as people never understood that services required money to be provided.
There are lots of interesting caches of varying difficulties in the area. I highly recommend taking the dirt road to Healesville from near summit. Usually closed in winter, but I think that might have changed, also due to the lack of snow.
I can remember 1 day about a foot of fresh snow at the ticket box.
