Who
This CITO is open to everyone, especially those who have not attended before, and even those who have never boated!
If you do not own a boat then please read the section below "But I don't have a boat".
What
No bacon butties this time, but we will have tea/coffee and cake. If you have a favourite cake let us know and we'll see what we can do.
As ever, litter pickers and bin bags will be provided. All that is needed is a boat and an hour or so of your time to canoe/kayak the route and find litter to place into your bin bag. To log an "attended" at the event you will have to sign the log book which will be in the middle of the river!
Chatting, laughing and generally having fun along the route is strongly encouraged. Last year we even arranged a delivery boat so those on the river didn't miss out on CAKE.
But I don't have a boat!
That's okay, there are several ways around this. Some people may have spare seats or even spare boats. If you will have space in your boat please say so in your "Will Attend" log to help us plan. We are able to provide a couple of spare bouyancy aids.
Swampy has made enquiries with a local kayak hire centre who are able to help, send us a message for more details. **Please note, this year we will not be able to hire kayaks on your behalf, you would need to collect and return them yourself** That said, if you would like to attend but do not have the means please either post a note or contact us through our profile and we will make sure you are able to take part.
When
Coinciding with geocaching.com's CITO weekend we will be meeting on April 25th at 2pm to start inflating and launching boats. The event will officially finish at 4pm, but is likely to run over into the evening!
Where
Boats can be launched from the mooring pontoons at the given waypoint. From there we will head along the river as far as we can. The downstream route follows the course of the Old River Nene which is a maintained waterway with little flow and unlikely to be in flood should we have much rain beforehand.
Footwear and Clothing
Unfortunately we are unable to prebook the weather so please come prepared! Old clothes and waterproofs are definitely the order of the day, as are life jackets/ bouyancy aids! Some gloves will be provided but if you have your own work or gardening gloves please bring them along.
Please remember, as always, you cache at your own risk.
